Tools may include: Conners Rating Scales · SWAN · ASRS · DIVA-5
Choosing whether to pursue an ADHD assessment is rarely about wanting a label for its own sake. For many people it is about making sense of a long-standing pattern — inconsistency that others misread as laziness, overwhelm that arrives faster than expected, emotional spikes that feel disproportionate, or a quiet chronic sense that your nervous system is running a different operating system than the environments you live and work in.
At Neurodiverse You, ADHD assessment is structured to be respectful, transparent, and clinically robust. Our pathways are aligned to relevant NICE guidance and supported by recognised, gold-standard assessment tools where clinically appropriate. We combine validated questionnaires with a careful developmental and clinical interview so your history is understood in context — including strengths, adaptations, masking, burnout, and what else might explain your difficulties. Where packages include informant input, ASD screening, consultant psychiatrist consultation, or wider multidisciplinary contribution, it is because additional perspectives can strengthen formulation when complexity is present — not because we want to “catch you out,” but because ADHD presentations vary widely across settings and life stages.
We are attentive to masking, burnout, and gendered stereotypes that have historically led to misrecognition. Many adults reach us after years of coping, late diagnosis in the family, or a sudden collapse in capacity when demands stack. Others are younger people (14–17) whose families want a careful, ethical pathway with clear communication and realistic recommendations for education and home life.
Because ADHD overlaps with other profiles — including anxiety, mood difficulties, trauma-related responses, sleep disruption, and autistic traits — assessment includes attention to differential diagnosis where clinically indicated. Each package sets out what is included, from additional reporting and informant interviews to ASD screening and consultant psychiatrist consultation, so you can match thoroughness to your questions and context.
Our reporting aims to be practical: clear enough to share with a GP or educational provider where relevant, and grounded in what will help next steps feel imaginable — whether that is adjustments, coaching, further assessment, or simply a more accurate framework for self-understanding.
If you are unsure which package fits, start with an enquiry. Clinical triage helps confirm suitability, outlines timelines and fees, and keeps consent meaningful at every stage.
ADHD is a neurodevelopmental difference that can be missed in childhood, especially when someone has learned to cope, mask, or compensate. In adulthood, it may become more visible through strain around focus, organisation, emotional regulation, time, and follow-through. Many people reach us after years of coping — or burnout — and want a careful, evidence-informed formulation, not a rushed label.
Does this feel familiar?
-
You may act quickly or respond in the moment, then realise afterwards that you needed more time to think it through.
-
Organising tasks, prioritising, and keeping order feels constantly uphill.
-
Time feels slippery — you underestimate how long things take or miss deadlines.
-
You lose focus on one thing unless it is urgent or genuinely gripping.
-
When several demands arrive at once, you may feel overwhelmed quickly.
-
You feel restless or driven to move, even when you want to sit still.
-
Your mood can shift quickly, or small frustrations can feel much bigger in the moment.
-
Stress can hit hard — you may avoid, shut down, rush, or feel constantly on edge.
-
Starting is hard; finishing is harder — projects stall even when they matter to you.
-
Irritation or anger may arrive quickly when you are already overloaded.
What to expect from your assessment
Assessment is structured so we understand your story, your strengths, and what else might explain your difficulties — not a single questionnaire tick-box. Some steps vary by package — see the badges on each step.
-

-

-
Step 06

What affects the price
- Package depth — Core through Integration & Support add successively more (informant input, psychiatrist review, follow-up sessions).
- Age band — Adolescent pathways include additional informant and educational-report work and are priced slightly higher than adult equivalents.
- Optional add-ons — Workplace or educational reports, ADHD coaching, and parent guidance are priced separately.
- Clinician mix — Pathways that include a consultant psychiatrist review are priced above the core clinician-led assessment.
Final fees are confirmed at triage, once we know which package and add-ons fit your situation.

Common questions
How much does a private ADHD assessment cost?
Our adult ADHD packages start at £900 (Core) and range up to £1,800 (Integration & Support). Adolescent pathways start at £1,150 and go up to £2,050. Most adults choose Comprehensive (from £1,200), which adds ASD screening, informant input, and a feedback meeting. Final fees depend on the package and any optional add-ons, and are confirmed at triage.
Is a private ADHD assessment legitimate, and will my GP accept it?
We use validated tools and structured clinical assessment led by qualified practitioners. Reports are written to a high standard; many clients share them with their GP. Uptake can vary by practice — we are happy to discuss what to expect when you enquire.
How long does the process take from enquiry to report?
Timing depends on triage, clinician availability, and how quickly questionnaires and informant information come back. We will give you a realistic outline after your enquiry and keep you informed at each stage.
What is the difference between the packages?
All packages include screening, a full clinical interview, and a diagnostic report. Higher packages add depth — such as ASD screening, informant input, psychiatrist review, medication guidance, and follow-up support — depending on what you need. We can help you choose during triage.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can self-refer. If you have existing letters or reports that are relevant, you can share them as part of assessment.
What happens after diagnosis — do you prescribe medication?
NDY does not currently prescribe ADHD medication directly. Where medication may be helpful, we have direct links to prescribers and can support you to understand the next steps after assessment. Prescribing and monitoring are managed by the prescribing clinician.
Is ADHD assessment online or in person?
Adult ADHD assessments listed here are delivered online nationwide. If you have access needs or questions about format, mention them when you enquire.
What if I think I might be autistic as well?
ADHD and autism can overlap, so we screen for autistic traits as part of our ADHD assessment process for most packages, even when we are not completing a full autism assessment. If the screening suggests that autism may also be relevant, we can discuss whether a full autism assessment, combined AuDHD assessment, or staged pathway would be helpful.
Locations we serve
Associate clinicians work across the UK. ADHD assessments are often delivered online nationwide; autism pathways may include in-person options depending on location. Explore location guides below — final arrangements are confirmed after triage.
Not listed? You can still enquire — we will match you to an appropriate clinician.
